Advantage Shutters is proud to announce that we are taking our exterior shutter business nationwide! We are now offering shipping for our custom-crafted exterior shutters as an “install it yourself option”. Exterior shutters can be shipped to you painted, stained, or raw and can be purchased with or without the accompanying hardware.
Our wooden exterior shutters are carefully designed and hand-crafted to give them the architecturally correct look that will enhance the look of your home. Our shutters are frequently used and approved in historic areas and homes around Nashville and middle TN where the details must be precise and true to history! We use only the best and highest-quality materials in the production of your new outdoor shutters. Our favorite wood that we use most often? Solid Spanish Cedar. This durable wood is well known for its resistance to decay and has been our standard for years. Our finishes are with either Sherwin Williams or Benjamin Moore exterior top quality paints or stains. We prefer to hang our shutters on your home with cast iron hardware. Our hardware comes in a multitude of styles and adds the perfect finishing touch to your beautiful new shutters.
How to Order Our Custom Exterior Shutters
Step 1 – Figure out what you want
Are you feeling inspired by a picture you found, a home down the street, or a recent vacation? Looking to recreate one-of-a-kind historical shutters or bring your vision to life? The first step is figuring out exactly what style shutters you want to order. We offer Louvered, Framed Panel, Board & Batten, Bahama, and custom designed shutters. Peruse the internet, our photo gallery, Pinterest, or Instagram and find a picture that you can email to us so that we can CLEARLY see your vision. Take special notes on any features that you like or dislike and start thinking about color.
Step 2 – Measure… twice!
At Advantage Shutters we do not carry any stock and there is no such thing as a standard window or a standard shutter. Every job we do is custom, meaning every job requires custom measurements. When the architecture of your home allows it, we prefer to build our shutters to be “architecturally correct”. This means that the shutters are the correct size and shape to close over your windows if you were ever to close them. We take measurements for each window and never assume that any openings are the same. Please see photos below to explain which measurements we need from you for each window. Take special care to note any downspouts, windows that are close to the each other, windows that are close to the edge of the home or a chimney, etc. Not all windows allow for an architecturally correct shutter and that’s alright!

Once you have selected your style, color, and have done your measuring (and your remeasuring just to be sure!) give us a call at 615-833-3425.
